Students’ Welfare Cell and Co-Curricular Activities Cell

The Ri Bhoi College Students’ Welfare Cell and the Co-Curricular Activities Cell were delegated to C. Bamon as the Co-ordinator along with F. Kharbuli, L. Iawphniaw and A. Jala as members. Ri Bhoi College Students’ Welfare Cell is committed to students’ well-being. Since its inception, it focuses on and monitors day to day activities of students in the college. The cell actively conducts an election to the Ri Bhoi College Students’ Union body and also organizes, prepares, and executes various programs and events in the college which enable students to participate effectively in their holistic development.

The Co-Curricular Activities Cell of Ri-Bhoi College had existed since the establishment of the institution itself. Co-Curricular activities are vital because even though they are not a part of the core curriculum, they play a very crucial role in giving young boys and girls the ability to shape their lives. The primary activity of the Co-Curricular Cell was the creation of a Student Council which deals with matters for uplifting the welfare of the students. The goal of co-curricular activities is to give better fitness to students and inculcate a sense of sportsmanship, competitive spirit, leadership, perfectionism, cooperation, and team spirit. Since North Eastern Hills University with which Ri-Bhoi College is affiliated had given importance to co-curricular activities, therefore, Ri- Bhoi College Co-Curricular Activities Cell was officially created in the year 2014. The cell emphasized how to develop self-confidence for the students and trust in others. The foremost objective of this cell was to ensure that students must take part in any form of co-curricular activity to build long-lasting friendships among students from different backgrounds. Further, it stresses the development of individual personality, teamwork, organization, communication skills, problems solving, and time management. It provides opportunities for students in various fields-sports, arts, cultural activities, and others. The Co-curricular Activities Cell also organized annual sports activities, essays, poetry writings, and took part in many sports and cultural activities organized by NEHU, the State government and the Ri- Bhoi District, and other autonomous bodies.
